It was an honour to attend ‘Starting with the Survivor Conference’ as part of Modern Slavery Week of Action. This important event brings together partners, professionals, and most importantly, survivors to strengthen our collective response to modern slavery and exploitation.
It was a privileged to have a spot to showcase Oldham’s multi-agency policy and procedures, sharing how our local partnership approach works in practice.
Collaboration across services is at the heart of protecting and supporting victims, and it was inspiring to hear from others across the region who are equally committed to this work.
One of the most powerful moments of the day was experiencing the ‘Life Through a Lens’ exhibition. A stunning and moving collection of photography created by survivors. Each image tells a story of resilience and hope, capturing places that represent freedom, safety, and new beginnings.
This week is a reminder of how vital it is to keep survivor voices at the centre of everything we do. Together, through partnership and compassion, we can continue to build pathways to freedom.
